America SCORES Chicago Announces Details For SCORES Cup, Chicago’s Longest Running Charity Soccer Tournament

CHICAGO, IL (June 16, 2021) -- Following Chicago’s move into Phase 5, making it the nation’s largest fully reopened city, America SCORES Chicago (ASC) has announced the details of the SCORES Cup set for Saturday, August 28 at the CIBC Fire Pitch. After postponing the event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, ASC is proud to bring back the city’s longest running charity soccer tournament.

“After what feels like a year of isolation and hibernation for so many, you can feel the energy and excitement from Chicagoans across the city now that we’re able to safely gather for in-person events,” said Amy Mummery, America SCORES Chicago’s Executive Director. “There is a healing power inherent to sport and our annual SCORES Cup is a great opportunity for companies to build connection and community among their team members.”

The SCORES Cup is an all-day corporate soccer tournament filled with networking, team-building, and charity. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the ACS’s mission to inspire youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.

More than 15 organizations and 300 players are expected to take part in this year’s event with 100-percent of the proceeds raised benefiting the poet-athletes in ASC’s sports-based youth development programs. Every organization that enters the tournament supports a full year of SCORES programming for a team of poet-athletes at one of our partner schools. Past participants include Abbvie, Antares, BCG, Crowe, Deloitte, Elephant & Castle, Ernst & Young, Fact Set, Fresenius Kabi, KPMG, Madison Dearborn Partners, Moelis & Co, Navigant, Outcome Health, PWC, and Societe Generale & William Blair.

For the second consecutive year, the SCORES Cup will be held at the CIBC Fire Pitch, located in the North Center neighborhood. The Fire Pitch is home to two newly upgraded full-size soccer pitches along with a 12,500 square foot clubhouse with Heineken Pub97 & Restaurant, bathrooms, concessions, and a merchandise store.

“Working with David and the entire team at the Fire Pitch has been such a great experience,” added Mummery. “We’re happy to have such a strong venue partner with one of the best playing surfaces and facilities in Chicago.”

The SCORES Cup will kick off the morning of August 28 at 9 a.m. Interested organizations and individuals can go to chicagoscores.org/scores-cup and are encouraged to contact Ethan Armstrong at ejarmstrong@chicagoscores.org for more information.
